Jeju, Korea's
volcanic-island golf

PGA Tour and KLPGA venues on the slopes of Hallasan, a public course on the sea cliffs and black pork for dinner.

Jeju is Korea's golf island, with tournament courses laid across volcanic slopes between Hallasan and the sea. The caveat is access: The Club at Nine Bridges, the PGA Tour's first CJ Cup venue, is a private members' club with very limited non-member play, and Pinx Golf Club, long-time home of the SK Telecom Open, is a membership club with limited visitor access. Plan around the 36-hole Lotte Skyhill Jeju, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design and KLPGA venue, and the public Jungmun Golf Club on the coastal cliffs, then try for the private clubs. The best months are April to early June and September to November.

Which Jeju courses can visitors play?

Lotte Skyhill Jeju Country Club in Seogwipo is the most practical big-name round. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed its 36 holes, which opened in 2005 on hillside ground with views to the sea and Sanbangsan. It hosts the KLPGA Tour's Lotte Rent-a-Car Ladies Open, the season opener in years such as 2022.

Jungmun Golf Club is the island's oceanfront public course, inside the Jungmun Resort district. Its Halla nine faces the mountain and its Coastal nine runs along the sea cliffs, a few minutes from Jusangjeolli's basalt columns. It is open to visitors, which makes it the easiest tee time to secure.

Pinx Golf Club in Andeok-myeon is a 27-hole Ted Robinson design from 1999 with parkland holes and water features. It is the long-time home of the Korean Tour's SK Telecom Open, including the 2024 edition, and in 2005 became the first Korean club named in Golf Digest's world top 100. It is a membership club with limited non-member access; confirm tee times through The Pinx resort.

Can you play The Club at Nine Bridges?

The Club at Nine Bridges, also in Andeok-myeon, is Jeju's most celebrated course and one of the top-ranked in Asia. Ronald Fream and David Dale of Golf Plan designed its highland parkland 18, which opened in 2001, and it hosted the PGA Tour's CJ Cup for its first three editions, in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

It is a private members' club with very limited non-member access, so do not build a trip around a guaranteed round. If you want to try, ask your home club whether it has reciprocal arrangements or ask your hotel concierge to make an inquiry, and confirm directly with the club. Treat a tee time here as a bonus rather than a plan.

When is the best time for golf in Jeju?

April to early June and September to November are the best golf months, with mild temperatures and firm fairways. Autumn tends to bring the most settled weather and clear views of Hallasan.

Late June to July brings the monsoon rains, and midsummer is hot and humid. Winter is cool and windy, and the island's exposed coastal and upland holes can play much longer when the wind is up, so pack a windproof layer if you visit between December and February.

How to plan a 4-day Jeju golf itinerary

  • Day 1 — Arrive and explore Jeju City. Land at Jeju and have dinner at Donsadon, one of the island's best-known black pork grills, before driving south.
  • Day 2 — Jungmun Golf Club. Play the cliff-top public course, then walk to Jusangjeolli Cliff. Dinner on dry-aged black pork at Sukseongdo in Jungmun.
  • Day 3 — Lotte Skyhill Jeju. Choose from 36 holes beneath Sanbangsan, then an afternoon at the Osulloc Tea Museum's green tea fields.
  • Day 4 — Pinx or Nine Bridges, if access allows. Otherwise, a second loop at Skyhill. Finish with Cheonjiyeon Waterfall and Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market.

Add a sunrise climb at Seongsan Ilchulbong on the east coast if you have a spare morning, followed by abalone at Myeongjin Jeonbok.

Where to base yourself in Jeju

Jungmun on the south coast is the natural golf base: it is the island's main resort district, home to Jungmun Golf Club and close to Lotte Skyhill and the Andeok courses, Pinx and Nine Bridges.

Seogwipo city, just east, puts you near Cheonjiyeon Waterfall and Olle Market, with an easy drive to the southern courses.

Jeju City in the north is closest to the airport and black pork restaurants, and it suits short trips or late flights, though the golf is on the other side of Hallasan. Drive times from each hotel are shown on this page.

Beyond the fairways: food and sights

Jeju black pork is the island's signature dinner. Donsadon in Jeju City grills thick cuts over charcoal, with staff doing the cooking, while Sukseongdo in Jungmun specializes in dry-aged black pork; expect long waits at dinner. On the northeast coast, Myeongjin Jeonbok is known for abalone stone-pot rice and grilled abalone.

  • Seongsan Ilchulbong — a tuff cone rising from the sea, part of Jeju's UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and a classic sunrise climb.
  • Jusangjeolli Cliff — hexagonal basalt columns along the Jungmun shoreline.
  • Osulloc Tea Museum — green tea fields and tasting rooms near Nine Bridges and Pinx.
  • Cheonjiyeon Waterfall — a short forest walk in central Seogwipo, lit for evening visits.
  • Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market — the city's largest and oldest market, good for tangerines and hallabong.

Rules, rates and booking policies change, so confirm details directly with each club before you travel.

❓ Golf trip FAQ

What is the best golf course in Jeju?

The Club at Nine Bridges is Jeju's most acclaimed course: a Ronald Fream and David Dale design that hosted the PGA Tour's CJ Cup from 2017 to 2019 and ranks among Asia's top courses. It is private with very limited non-member access, so Lotte Skyhill Jeju is the strongest course most visitors can book.

Can visitors play Nine Bridges or Pinx?

Both are membership clubs. Nine Bridges is a private members' club with very limited non-member access, and Pinx limits non-member play, so confirm tee times through The Pinx resort. To try for Nine Bridges, ask your home club about reciprocal arrangements or have your hotel concierge inquire, and confirm directly with the club.

Is there a public golf course in Jeju?

Yes. Jungmun Golf Club is a public course inside the Jungmun Resort district, open to visitors. Its Halla nine faces the mountain and its Coastal nine runs along the sea cliffs, a few minutes from Jusangjeolli's basalt columns. It is the simplest tee time to secure on the island, though booking ahead is still wise.

When is the golf season in Jeju?

The best months are April to early June and September to November, with mild temperatures and firm fairways. Late June to July brings the monsoon rains, midsummer is hot and humid, and winter is cool and windy. Autumn usually offers the most settled weather and clear views of Hallasan.

Where should I stay for golf in Jeju?

Jungmun on the south coast is the best golf base. It is Jeju's main resort district, home to Jungmun Golf Club and close to Lotte Skyhill, Pinx and Nine Bridges. Seogwipo city is a good alternative, while Jeju City suits short trips near the airport. Drive times from each hotel are shown on this page.

Is Jeju windy for golf?

It can be, especially in winter, when the island is cool and windy and exposed coastal and upland holes play noticeably longer. Spring and autumn are calmer and more comfortable. Pack a windproof layer, club up into the breeze, and favor morning tee times when conditions are often steadier.
